GRWM (get ready with me)
what is it?
these video types demonstrate the product being used in some type of daily routine (most often a morning routine). this content is frequently used with makeup, beauty, or skin care brands, but can also be used for several other products that may enhance someone's routine.

identify where in your day (or routine) you would use the product you are showcasing.
set the scene by giving viewers context of where you're going or what you're doing.

what is it?
these video types demonstrate the fit of new clothes as well as how to style them. this content is almost exclusively used for clothing or fashion brands and frequently includes several products.

have a hook to introduce the video + give context to the viewers.
showcase each piece of clothing before + after you try it on.
mix and match the pieces with each other or with clothes you have in your closet.
demonstrate or talk about features on the clothes that you like and/or places you could wear the outfit.

what is it?
an unscripted honest review of the product. talk about the features you like and any features you would change to enhance the product. brands of any product type can use video content like this.

what is it?
similar to an honest review, a testimonial talks about a product from a customer's perspective. however, unlike honest reviews, testimonials will usually consist of given talking points or scripts from a client. these videos tend to have a more promotional feel and can be used by any industry or product.

green screen
what is it?
this UGC video type is one that requires no physical product. someone talks about the product with videos or pictures of the product shown. if you are featured in the video as well, the photos or video would be placed behind you (like a green screen).
this type of video works best for large or expensive products but can be used with any product type.

use a software like CapCut that has pre-generated green screen effects.

have a high-quality video or photo example to use as the background.
use multiple photos or clips if necessary to showcase different uses or benefits of the product.
lighting is extra important. be sure to light your face evenly.

unboxing video
what is it?
unboxing videos replicate the experience of taking a new item out of its packaging for the first time after purchase. these videos are usually filmed from a first-person POV with just hands and arms shown. brands may use this method if their packaging or unboxing experience is an important part of their product.
how to make a successful unboxing video
make it a fresh experience. be sure the product is either being unboxed for the first time or looks brand new.
try voiceovers with your video. film yourself opening the packaging. then record yourself speaking over the video later.
take it slow when opening the product + packaging. relish in the experience of unboxing the product for the first time.
point out details in the product or packaging that makes it stand out.

feature highlight / how to
what is it?
the purpose of a feature highlight or how-to video is typically to educate the customer. you will be asked to share how the details + features of the product are useful to the customer. depending on the product, it's features may be best explained in a "how-to" video showing the product in use.
this video may be best used for products that require assembly, or products that come with a certain set of instructions.
how to make a successful feature highlight/how to video
ensure you understand the product fully. read the brief thoroughly. test out and inspect the product before filming.
have clips with the product in use. remember to keep the product and action in the middle of the frame with extra space around it.
a phone stand + holder may come in use here for hands free recording.
if there are several steps, use editing to speed up the video or create jump cuts to help condense the time.
if not fully scripted, plan your how-to steps before recording. keep them concise + to the point.
